Seven-card stud
Seven-card stud is a variant of stud poker. Until the recent increase in popularity of Texas hold ‘em, seven-card stud was the most popular poker variant in home games across the United States, and in casinos in the eastern part of the country. Seven-card stud is also played in western American casinos, but Texas hold’em is far more popular there. Two to eight players can play.
Dealing
Seven card stud is dealt from a full deck of cards with the jokers removed, the first two cards that are dealt are dealt face down and are referred to as hole cards. After this the next card dealt is face up, after this card is dealt the player with the lowest face up card will be the first to place their ante in the pot known as a forced bet or bring-in. this begins the first round of betting.
Fourth Street
This is the fourth up card dealt and now the player’s hands will begin to take form, for this reason the betting after this deal is done by the player with the highest hand and then it continues clockwise.
Fifth Street
This is the next card that is dealt or fifth card up card dealt and the ante will begin with the player who has the highest hand and continue clockwise. This is also when players who have few cards that is capable of making a pair, flush or other type of ranking.
River
This is the last round of betting where raises push out the rest of the players who have hole cards that are not going to beat players with a high ranking hand. In this round of betting the person who raised will be the first to show their hand.
